Why Pinterest?

Pinterest describes themselves as, a catalog of ideas for big moments and the everyday. They consider themselves a search engine and even more – a discovery tool.

Ask yourself: Are my current pins helping teachers with big moments and providing ideas?

Pinterest is a game-changer for your traffic because it will level the playing field for teachers with a lower social following, or teachers that might have a high following, but are annoyed with the love-hate social media algorithm.

Why?

Because if you create pin-worthy images write with Pinterest SEO, and have a consistent pinning strategy, you’ll see growth.

Don’t believe me? The screenshot below was taken after TWO YEARS of not pinning a single thing on Pinterest (b/c I started at Nearpod and had no life for awhile haha).

Yes, that does say 1.1 MILLION monthly viewers!

Pro Tip: The best pinners do not manually pin. The only scheduling platform I prefer for Pinterest is Tailwind. This scheduling platform was made for Pinterest and it does what it was created to do so well with a straight focus. Click the link below for $15 off Tailwind.

What should I pin on Pinterest?

Pinners come to Pinterest to do, try, or buy. Ask yourself, is the content that I am creating or plan to create promoting teachers to do, try, or buy?

Teachers think that they need to only pin from their website, and while that is the most ideal, here are a few ideas to drive traffic not only using your website.

  • Create pins driving traffic directly to your TPT products
  • Turn infographics from Instagram into a long pin and pin to the IG post
  • Turn real life images from Instagram into a pinnable pin and drive to the social media post
  • Create Pins driving traffic directly to your YouTube Videos
  • Create Pins driving traffic directly to your Podcast Episodes

Create content that drives value and don’t misrepresent your brand by creating clickbait pins. Ensure every pin is helping a teacher do, try, or buy and you’ll be set.

Pinterest’s Smart Feed

The Smart Feed is the collection of pins from the people, boards, and topics you follow, as well as a few promoted pins and pins picked for you based on your past behavior and what you’ve clicked on.

An example to this is Instagram and Facebook – except it’s actually much easier. This is because Pinterest is a search engine. This is where keywords come in. Followers do not matter and that’s why this gives all teacher business owners a chance.
