Have you every looked at people living in their content creator bubble and wonder how they do it? There are some creators that seem to constantly create high-value content, all the while you’re sitting there racking your brain for one content idea. Those that are able to produce high-value content have power strategies they take in, even before they begin writing their content.
According to the Content Marketing Institute, 73% of B2B marketers and 70% of B2C marketers use content marketing as part of their overall marketing strategy. Data also shows that the pandemic increased content usage by 207%.
Here are the strategies of high performing content creators. Which strategies will you pick up in the next month?
1. Stay up to date on trends, news, and updates
Creating great content that resonates with your audience requires that you know what’s going on in your industry. In order to be the lighthouse of the best and most updated ideas, news, and resources, you have to know what’s going on. This is a major advantage to creating what your audience needs in that moment. Always soaking in ideas will increase the amount of ideas you bring in when you work on your business, too.
Get in the habit of reading what’s happening in your industry by setting up Google Alerts, or an RSS feed like Pocket, Feedspot, or Feedly.
2. Network and collaborate with others
The best content creators know that they can’t get even close to the finish line solo. Your ideas are great, and they can be even greater when you listen to outside perspectives. The best content creators can grow into even more successful content creators when they take this approach.
Social media is called social for a reason – so use it! Find those that are around your niche and reach out. Start a conversation and get to know one another. When you put yourself out there authentically, you’d be surprised what comes back your way.
3. Build and reiterate along the way
Done is better than perfect and as educators, the perfectionism can hit real hard. Yes, your content should be high quality, but nitpicking every tiny detail to the point you never post will hinder your chance of collecting data on the content early on.
Make it a point to press publish, then go back and review the data with fresh ideas to decide how you should update and what tweaks you can make. You won’t know what’s working and what’s not unless you test it.
4. Share more solutions than hot-takes
While hot takes and viral music can get you to a certain point, it’s the value you bring to your audience that creates successful creators. People have limited time, so sharing the why behind your tips, solve their problem, or increase their confidence will drive more value.
What do you want to be known for and when people think of [your industry/niche], does your name pop up? What can you do to change that?
5. Be highly curious
One of my favorite new quotes is that you can be data rich but insights poor. This means that you can have all of the data and information in the world, but if you can’t deduce a strategy from it or know what to do with it, you don’t have a marketing plan. By questioning what you’re reading and data you’re uncovering, you’re providing more value to your audience when you explain more of the why versus the what. This will lead you to create even stronger content than surface level all from a simple mindset shift.
