Deciding what to post and why can be a headache for many. There’s so many options swirling in your brain, how do you decide what to post, and to what channel? In this post, I’m sharing how to plan your content as a TPT seller by asking yourself some important questions.
What holidays or major events are happening at this time?
When you can insert yourself into topics that are currently on teacher’s minds, you’re able to stay relevant and become a resource to support teachers. Look at major holidays happening that month and also themes such as testing season, parent conferences, classroom parties, etc.
This allows you to talk about topics that teachers need and are thinking about in that moment. You shift from being a salesy resource to a helpful resource.

What major campaigns or initiatives am I launching?
In the same realm as the themes and holidays, what campaigns will you choose to focus on during this month? Having a campaign allows you to have a focused goal and your content will help you focus in a major area.
For example, in the Spring, I drive as many leads as possibly to my Spring Cleaning Checklist.
What is the teacher sentiment?
You don’t want to come off as tone deaf during the year. For example, the way you write and talk to teachers during back to school is a lot different than during testing season or that laaaaast stretch before Winter Break.
By knowing and remembering how teachers are feeling during this time, you can create more human-centered content that talks with the teacher and empathizes with them, instead of talking at.
What worked well this time last year?
Don’t be afraid to recycle content! People assume that just because they watch or follow you on one channel, they do the same for the other. They watch you on “X” channel because they prefer that format. Allow the rest of the audience to benefit by recycling into other channels.
Also, you can post the same image and post! I slightly tweak my posts year over year while also mixing in new posts. This allows me to re-cycle my hard work from year’s prior, while also adding in something fresh.
What would I like to test?
It’s important as a marketer that you try and test something new to your audience. This ensures that you’re always growing, and figuring out what will become the new standard for your business.
Use planning templates to keep you organized!
