1.Repurposing content strengthens your message
You might think it’s redundant to take information from one form and create it for another. However, this actually reinforces the knowledge you already have, and helps accelerate your authority in this space. By communicating similar sentiments across your channels, teachers will know that they can come to you about *topic* and you turn passive readers into loyal advocates.
2. Repurposing content helps you reach new teachers
Y’all – you are the bees knees but here’s the thing, not everybody is reading every single word you write. It’s not you, it’s our attention spans and the way social media works. Old content you created awhile back is rarely seen by the new teachers that have shown up on your site since then. Spruce up old content pieces so that it’s marketable for your audience right now.
It’s also a mistake to assume somebody follows you on every single channel you have. Understand that teachers have their favorite ways to consume media, just like you! So publishing content only on your YouTube channel and now sharing that information on your website is a missed opportunity to share this information with the teachers that say, only read your blog.
3. Repurposing content maximizes time and effort
When you repurpose content, you can yield more output with the same amount of input, while maintaining quality. For example, this post of mine you are reading is actually the 5 minute into of my YouTube Video, Repurposing your Content with Purpose. Chances are, you haven’t but you’re reading this article of mine. What if I did not repurpose the intro?
By repurposing content you’re already pre-researched and created in another format, you’ve already done the hard work in advance so you are just reformatting to fit the new channel. This is going to allow you to show up across multiple channels, and plan content much fast than if you were thinking of something new for each and every channel. While the delivery may be different, the root of the content is still there.
4. Allows you to test media formats
Some of the content you publish might not perform as well as you would like. Does this mean you kick it to the curb? Common mistake! It’s important to analyze your efforts and ask why did this piece of content perform the way it did – and think through all of the reasons so that you can test the differences.
While this entire article is focused on repurposing content across different channels, you can also repurpose content across the same channel. Look at the example below. Earlier, I was creating YouTube content and promoting it on my Instagram page but noticed the engagement was low. Then I decided to repurpose the content and turned a section of the video into a carousel image, the engagement was drastically higher (and 300+ saves!).
If i had only posted this piece of content once, I would have missed out on the potential engagement the second posts has now given me, and the increase traffic it brought to my YouTube video.
5. Increases your online presence
By repurposing content you’re obviously creating more content which, *drumroll please*, increases the amount of content and thus your online presence! This is important for brand awareness since it’s allowing you to easily be present on the channels of your focus without having to re-create the wheel every time.
6. Repurposing teacherpreneur content improves SEO
Repurposing your content will improve your Search Engine Optimization since you’re creating more content on a consistent basis, and Google is reading your page as a source of trustworthy and updated information.
7. Helps you achieve multiple goals
If you want to gain X number of followers on Instagram and X number of subscribers on YouTube, don’t feel like you need to talk about two different things on each channel to get followers! If you created one piece of content one a channel that did really well, there’s a great chance it’s going to perform well on another one of your channels. This is going to help you scale your content creation while still moving forward with specific channel goals.
