Winter Social Media & Content Ideas for TPT Sellers

With a new year beginning and coming off of a well deserved break, there’s a little more energy that teachers did not have in the months prior. Save this post for later because you’re going to walk away with tons of social media, blog, and other content ideas for TPT Sellers.

Remember the Teacher Mindset

One strategy that we discuss in depth in Teacher Marketing Academy, is the need to always remember your audience mindset, which is in this case the teacher. With a close understanding of the mindset, you’re conversations to these teachers will be more genuine and feel less salesy. You’re speaking directly to what they need at that time.

While the Back to School mindset is not there, this is still an opportunity to share new routines and ideas, since teachers might be a tad more receptive. All that to say, what would you personally need in the month of January-March? Here are Winter Content Ideas for TPT Sellers:

Holidays around the World

Helping students to understand and appreciate different cultures, as well as the diversity within our own society can be made apparent when teaching about various holidays.

Gift Guides for…

This is the perfect time to get your affiliate marketing off the ground. Share gift guides for teachers, teacher bffs, student gifts, or yourself! Consider creating templates so that you can easily plug in the images you want to share to your audience.

Important December Dates:

  • December 7th – 15th – Hanukkah
  • December 25th – Christmas
  • December 26th – Kwanzaa begins

Re-establishing routines and classroom management

As kids return from break, it’s no surprise that some of those foundational management techniques seem to have stayed back at home. Any resources about classroom management or routines of any sort (grading, recess, etc), can be recycled during time to support teachers that are feeling this pain point.

This is also a time when teachers are re-inspired to try something new for their class, not in the true back to school mindset way, but on a smaller scale. Consider sharing some management strategies that help you maintain sanity, to inspire other teachers and hopefully in turn, they’ll purchase your product

Some resources of mine that I would promote would be:

Spiral Review for first half of the year teaching concepts

Just like management techniques become foggy, so do some of those teaching concepts you taught at the beginning of the year. With state testing around the corner, students need to remember these concepts.

Any year long bundles or sets products would make a great share to your audience. For example, I would promote my Year Long Daily Word Problems, in an effort to help math spiral review of word problems.

Goal setting and resolutions

Goal setting can help students focus on what they want to achieve, and make steps to accomplish it. New year’s is a great time to start this self reflection to create a purpose since it symbolizes new beginning and opportunities.

Topics that come to mind:

  • Goal Setting and Resolutions
  • “One Word” for the year
  • Vision board work
  • Student Data (self and how you as a teacher collect it to analyze)
  • Class wide data, data tracking sheets
  • Growth Mindset

Important January Dates:

  • January 11th – Amelia Earhart’s first solo flight
  • January 18th – MLK Day
  • January 22nd – Popcorn Day
  • January 31st – Jackie Robinson’s Birthday

SEL and Kindness themed resources and books

February is a great time to re-invite students to participate in kindness and SEL related activities. Since February is a short month, consider starting to promote this at the end of January to ensure that these resources will be used.

Black History Month

Classroom resources and topics represent the diversity of the classroom we serve. With this topic, please educate yourself first and leverage resources with a true diversity, equity, and inclusion perspective. Do not just check a box. Consider who you are purchasing from, and if you yourself sell any resources, ask yourself if this is a generic story.

Some ways to highlight on your channels:

  • How you are educating yourself
  • Highlighting BIPIC creators
  • Sharing books from BIPOC authors

Valentine’s Day Parties

Not every school will have a Valentine’s Day party, but if you are celebrating in some way, turn that into content! Consider what you might be able to ‘teach’ your audience about how you set up a party.

  • How do you communicate with parents?
  • How do you afford it?
  • How do you make time for the party?
  • What games do you play? Are they tied to education?

Everything in one way shape or form has the potential to be content.

The “Big Game”

While for copy write reasons you cannot explicitly use the Superbowl, you can create a feeling of sports with your resources. Any sports themed resources to help bring that competitive spirit from the Big Game into your classroom will flow nicely into this month.

Looking ahead: Testing Season

Testing season is right around the corner which means schools are starting to trickle the message to their staff. The end of February would be a great time to start getting these type of resources you already have ready for the months to come.

Important February Dates:

  • February 2nd – Groundhog Day
  • February 4th – Rosa Parks Day
  • February 6th – School Counselor’s Week
  • February 12th – The ‘Big Game’
  • February 14th – Valentine’s Day
  • February 15th – Susan B. Anthony Day
  • February 17th – Random Acts of Kindness Day
  • February 20th – President’s Day
  • February 21st – John Lewis’ Birthday
  • February 21st – Mardi Gras
  • February 22nd – George Washington’s Birthday
  • February 25th – Digital Learning Day
