Free ways to drive traffic to your TPT store

You’ve spent hours creating and posting a new Teachers Pay Teachers product, and you’re scratching your head wondering why it’s not getting clicked. The more traffic you can drive to your store, the higher chance you’ll have to get sales. Here are free ways to drive traffic to your TPT store.

1.
Optimize your TPT store with keywords

Let’s start this at the place where your product is posted – Teachers Pay Teachers! There are different tactics that you can deploy to drive traffic directly within the site. Here are a few ideas:

  • Write your titles using SEO & keywords teachers are searching for
  • Write your description using SEO & keywords teachers are searching for
  • Add related products within the TPT description
  • Add related products as a plug and play template within your products

2.
Create a Pinterest marketing strategy

Pinterest describes themselves as,  a visual discovery tool that helps people to find and do the things that they love. So….Why not your products? If you’re not using Pinterest for your business, it’s time to reconsider.

Here’s a stat to keep in your back pocket:

  • 83% of weekly Pinners have made a purchase based on content they saw from brands on Pinterest. (Pinterest internal data, US, Feb 2017)

You can’t just drop links and post images, hoping for the best. You need pinnable images, keywords, and a consistent pinning strategy. The only way I’ve been able to managing pinning 8-10 times per day is with the support of Tailwind. Don’t bother googling any other pinning platform. Even as much as I love Sprout Social, I still dedicate Tailwind to my pinning.

3.
Create an email marketing strategy

Did you know that email marketing has a higher conversion rate than any other platform? It’s time to start collecting emails and increase conversions to your audience. An email list builds stronger relationships and helps you showcase yourself as an expert. Emails are action oriented so you can drive traffic to your website, products, and lead them to complete a specific action.

So how do you get started?

We’ll save that for another time, but it’s never to early in your business to start. Pick an email platform (or if you’re super new collect in a Google Form!), create a reason for them to subscribing, and start plugging it into your marketing!

4.
Write evergreen topics for your website

Publishing consistent, valuable, and evergreen content is a long-term strategy with lasting effects for your business. Teachers are looking for more than what your topics are. Craft a story in relation to those products and services.

5.
Social Media

This was placed last for a reason. As someone who had made a career managing social media for major companies, I do love love love social media – but it’s not the only lever your business, and that’s the point I’m trying to make. If you don’t like social media, you can be successful without it. If you love social media, you craft a content strategy with it at it’s center. The point here is, don’t let the #Teachergram make you feel less worthy. There is a content plan for you based on your strengths.
