How to Start an Email List for TPT Sellers

How would you feel if you could send a message to your audience and have everyone receive immediate access? No algorithm games. Just a simple send. This is why email marketing has the highest conversion of every channel. Sure social media is fun and can drive traffic, but it’s not the end all be all. Here is how to start a email list for TPT Sellers.

How to Start an Email List for TPT Sellers

1. Pick a Service Provider

Assess the Features: Assess how often you plan to send email and what type of capability you might need. Do you want a simple send? What about advanced segmenting? Would you like to get fancy with trigger based emails? What about a on-boarding flow? Assess the features of the different service providers and decide what is best for you.

Assess the User List Pricing: If you don’t read the fine print, you’ll end up being charged extra for having a certain number of users on your email list (even if you’re not sending emails). This is also why it’s so important to clean out your list from time to time (topic for another conversation).

Looking for an email Service Provider? Flodesk is the perfect platform for Teacherpreneurs because it’s packed with beautiful templates, automations, and what you need to get the job done – without the extra confusing buttons!

2. Create a Free Opt-In

Hi Viktoria! You might have noticed if you read blogs and follow me on social media, that each piece of content is crafted for teachers who sell on Teachers Pay Teachers OR own their own small business in some capacity that is targeted for teachers. Did you notice how my blog specifically mentions teachers? That examples across all of my content is targeted to teacher business owners’? If it was for say, dentists business owners, I would changed the content for the audience. I also noticed that you wrote this same comment on another post, I hope you find what you’re looking for since it doesn’t seem that my website is it! Best of luck in your biz journey! Wish you the best!

Thank you, this video was helpful. When do you suggest one start on their email list. I am a new TPT seller with only 20 followers and I have an IG account that is also small (about 350). Do you recommend trying to grow these numbers more before investing in a provider?

Hi Anne! This is a great question! Imagine if 350 people were standing in front of you waiting for you to speak right now…that’s a pretty massive numbers! I know it can be easy to get caught up in the vanity metrics – know that the earlier you can start setting up your email, the better! I am kicking myself that I waited YEARS and left so much money on the table. Having access to those emails is data YOU will OWN, not TPT, and not any other third party site. There is great power in that! It will also save you tons of time down the line because you’re learning on a ‘less intense’ scale than if you were trying to set it up AND get all your content/free opt-ins ready to go. You’ve got this! What other content are you interested in learning about? 💕
