I recently discovered a wonderful app that has NUMEROUS uses for the classroom.
The app is called CHIRP.
I have never been more excited to hear the sound of birds.
What is it?
It is an app that allows user to send pictures, notes, and links through short bursts of sound.
Scenario:
I am creating a foldable with my students. I have that one writer that has horrible vision and can’t see the document camera as well as very slow handwriting. We obviously want this student to get the material down, but don’t want to risk all of the students sitting there waiting for him/her.
So…I chirp it out!
The volume has to be on for both devices in order to work
What you send can be saved to the device you are sending it to. If the student taps the picture that you send it will give the option to share or save to camera roll.
Keep in mind that everyone that has the chirp app on at the time you send it will get the picture/link/note. Just make sure they get out of the app if they no longer need it!
If you only have 5 iPads in a classroom, you could potentially use this in small group for inferencing of pictures, multiplication problems, main idea sort, newspaper articles.
This is such a great way to save paper! 🙂
