2009-2013 – Baylor University and psych volunteering…

I attended Baylor University with a degree in Psychology & Rhetoric and Argumentation. During that time I worked alongside the Dean of Psychology as his research assistant. I decided to get certified to be a teacher and taught elementary for four years! During that time (& in college) I managed the suicide hotline and was a Sexual Assault Crime Victims Advocate for 6 years.

2013- While teaching I discovered the power of marketing…

While teaching, I quickly realized how lonely the profession was in addition to lack of resources. I started creating my own lesson plans and when searching Pinterest, discovered that there was a whole community of teachers just like me – wanting to make connections and build a digital community. These teachers were also making money from their lesson plans!

I used my Psychology degree to leverage marketing tactics and made more than my teaching salary in my first year teaching! 🤩💰

This caught the eye of the Founder of Nearpod…and thus my corporate journey begins.

2017 – I Joined Nearpod as a Start Up

In 2017, I was recruited to join the Nearpod Team when it was less than 50 employees. We were scrappy and we did what we need to get the job done. The skills I picked up during this time were endless. I literally started from the bottom and built my way up to the leadership team. I am proud of the many roles and promotions I received – Nearpod was and has always been my home.

But then…it started to get too easy. I built so many strong systems and I wasn’t really learning anymore. I’m a go-getter type of gal, I don’t like to sit still…so during my time at Nearpod, I started Teacher Marketing Academy

2021 – While at Nearpod, I started Teacher Marketing Academy

I woke up one day after being dormant on my Instagram for FOUR years. I woke up and thought, I’m going to take all that I learned as a TPT Seller and as someone who helped scale a major start up, and I’m going to teach teachers how to do the same.

From there, my creativity soared! This was the passion I was mission. I built consulting services, digital products, and e-courses, and started to see major revenue in as quickly as one month!

Everything was great, I had nothing to complain about – wasn’t looking to leave Nearpod. I was bored, sure, but I was doing a great job and going above and beyond. But something was missing.

& then like a laser beam, I was recruited…

2022 – Head of Marketing for a mental health Startup

2023 – Marketing Consultant for EdTech Companies

    Amber,
Thanks for the classroom transition playlists! Those are fun songs. I would also recommend a book I wrote a few years ago, "School Rules." (You can find it where sheet music is sold) They are effective for me because they didn't require any setup or playback equipment, though there is a cd if teachers want it.
