Heart Healthy Valentine’s Day Party Ideas

Did you survive? I don’t know how I’m able to write this blog post after our Valentine’s Day party. My kids had a BLAST, but I’m still recuperating, ha! Regardless, it was so much fun, so I want to share how our class celebrated, with a twist. Keep reading for heart healthy Valentine’s Day party ideas.

My school technically only allows two parties a year. Valentine’s Day is technically not a party for us.  Kids were not allowed to eat any sweets, but heart healthy snacks were allowed. To eliminate any sugary food being brought, I create a sign up genius for the parents.

Sign Up Genius is an excellent tool to help alleviate the stress of gathering materials for parties. Make a list of everything you need and send out the link! Parents will put their name next to the item that they decide to bring.

To make it easier on myself, I sent a Valentine’s Day note home and also posted it on our {classroom website}. To eliminate the back and forth of parent questions, I sent home class list of the students in our class using my Valentine’s Day student names list. Click {HERE} to snag them.

On the sign up genius, I asked for juice, water, string cheese, vegetable/fruit tray, cuties oranges, and squeezable yogurt.

I preach to my kids that it is so important to thank those that help us no matter how small the favor. Somebody went out of their way and we must thank them. I buy boxes of thank you notes at Marshall’s. When a parent or faculty member does something for us, I grab a thank you note from our box. As a class we write (I will write this part), the header, what we are thanking them for, and how the gesture benefited our class. Then I send the thank you card around for everyone to sign. This takes just a few minutes from our day and it is well worth it! The thank you note makes the donator feel special, and encourages them to donate again. 😉

I love scouring the Target Dollar spot for reasons other than just holidays (let’s be real). However, the Target dollar spot has excellent cheap Valentine’s gifts. I placed these in a little baggie and sent them on their merry way!
